На підставі так званого екологічного підходу в екологічних дослідженнях простежено залежність між системою заселення черняхівської культури та фізико-географічними особливостями ареалу її поширення, визначено еколого-господарські умови існування черняхівського населення Верхнього Подністер'я та Верхнього Попруття, з'ясовано, як особливості ресурсної зони того чи іншого поселення зумовлювали спрямування господарської діяльності її мешканців у сфері безпосереднього життєзабезпечення.

Stebliy Nataliya. The geography of settlements in archaeological research (as based on the materials of the Chernyakhiv culture of Upper Podnisterrya and Upper Popruttya). The dependence between the population system of Chernyakhiv culture and physical and geographical peculiarities of the area where it was spread is traced on the basis of the so-called ecological approach. The author describes the ecological and economic situation of the Chernyakhiv population of Upper Podnisterrya and the Upper Popruttya and demonstrates how the peculiarities of the resource zone of a settlement defined the type of its economic activity.
